The Diploma of Engineering Technology is designed to qualify graduates for employment opportunities at para-professional level in a range of engineering, manufacturing and related industries roles. The course allows for direct entry of school leavers as well as catering for tradespeople and technicians who wish to upskill for entry into para-professional positions.

This course is specifically designed to cover the skills and knowledge required for employment as a higher level Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical) and associated industries, or at equivalent levels in other industries where Engineering Tradespersons work. You will learn skills and knowledge further to your base trade, offering the flexibility to further your fitting, machining, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC, fabrication or welding skills.

As an apprentice fabricator (boilermaker or sheet metal worker), you will learn and develop skills in metal fabrication, pattern development, welding and computers in engineering that are required to work as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries.

Get the training to be able to undertake basic machining under supervision. Skills development involves setting up and machining components in lathes, milling machines, cut off saws, pedestal grinders and drilling machines. A focus skill in the course is the marking out of projects - effectively the preparation prior to machining - as this is an absolute necessity to get right in the process.
