QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma of Engineering - Technical

In this specialised technical Engineering course, you will develop skills and knowledge required for a draftsperson producing specialist engineering drawings within an engineering (Mechanical) or manufacturing work environment as well as industry relevant mathematics, engineering design calculations, drafting techniques and appropriate drafting skills. You will learn to apply technical mathematics and calculus, develop advanced engineering detail drafting skills and mechanical models for computer-aided engineering. You may be already employed in an engineering-related industry directly, or a public student looking for a career change to gain employment in this specialised area or looking for full time study prior to higher education. Credit for relevant units of competency achieved may be granted towards this qualification for those who have completed MEM40412 / MEM40422 Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting, MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, MEM30319 / MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or other relevant qualifications.

Full time study for students with no previous credits.

Certificate IV in Engineering

This course is specifically designed to cover the skills and knowledge required for employment as a higher level Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical) and associated industries, or at equivalent levels in other industries where Engineering Tradespersons work. This course is ideal for tradespeople nearing completion or have completed an apprenticeship, or are experienced in the trade (Fabrication or Fitter and Turner) wanting to broaden their skill set, or move into supervisory roles.

Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting

Develop your skills in Engineering (Mechanical) Drafting. This course will develop the skills and knowledge required for a draftsperson producing specialist engineering drawings within an engineering (Mechanical) or manufacturing work environment. You will either be employed, or looking to be employed, within an engineering-related industry directly, or under an Australian Traineeship agreement, looking to work and develop knowledge of engineering principles for this specialised area, as well as mathematics and appropriate drafting skills.

SCHEDULE

The course will run from February to November, over a two year duration. Ongoing applications are available, speak with the teaching department to discuss your commencement date.

Certificate II in Engineering - Production Technology

Looking for a Welding and/or CNC Machining pathway or Traineeship in Engineering, developing Engineering skills? This course has been developed in skills and knowledge clusters, being delivered in stages, covering the skills and knowledge related to each cluster. Students can complete Stage 1 - Welding cluster, and then take the option of completing Stage 2 - Machining cluster or complete all three stages to achieve the full qualification as either a public student, or through an employer under an Australian Traineeship agreement.

Duration is dependent on the stage progression undertaken:

This program is completed within 2 stages - Stage 1 is an 8-week program - introduction to engineering, with an option to complete Stage 2, full Certificate II qualification (6 months).
