Overview
Develop your skills in Engineering (Mechanical) Drafting. This course will develop the skills and knowledge required for a draftsperson producing specialist engineering drawings within an engineering (Mechanical) or manufacturing work environment. You will either be employed, or looking to be employed, within an engineering-related industry directly, or under an Australian Traineeship agreement, looking to work and develop knowledge of engineering (Mechanical) principles for this specialised area, as well as mathematics and appropriate drafting skills.
The program has been designed to cater for learners already employed, with a blend of face to face workshops, blended learning options and workplace learning. Students will detail drawings according to engineering design intent and required Australian Standards (AS), develop skills for the use of computer-aided design (CAD) software functions and apply industry and discipline specific knowledge to produce 2D and 3D models, drawings and schematics for specialised engineering-related areas of industry.
Students will produce prototype of 3D models using 3D printing technology.
The course is developed using AutoCAD and Inventor software initially.
Additionally, the course is also an approved Traineeship in Victoria, with a maximum duration of 36 months.
