On Tuesday 9 April, Empowering Women in Trades (EWIT), Snowy Hydro and Wodonga TAFE welcomed a group of women to the Trades Training Centre to experience Carpentry, Electrotechnology and Plumbing trades, giving them exposure to a range of tools and an understanding of the range of roles within them.

Wodonga TAFE is excited to announce the launch of two new skill set courses: UEESS00194 - Grid-connected Photovoltaic Systems Designer-Installer Skill Set UEESS00191 - Grid-connected Battery Storage Systems Designer-Installer Skill Set These courses are designed to equip A-grade electricians and fourth-year electrical apprentices with the skills and knowledge needed to become qualified solar photovoltaic (PV) designers and installers, or battery storage system (BSS) designers and installers.

At Wodonga TAFE, we often promote the success of our learners, but this sometimes means the stories of our dedicated teachers often go untold. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on an inspiring educator whose journey from childcare to teaching shows that pathways can often lead us in unexpected directions. 

This weekend, our students faced the ultimate test of their mechanical skills at the Winton 300, turning theory into practice under race-day pressure!

Their dedication shone through as they worked tirelessly to ensure that the Motorsports Training Australia V8 Falcon Brute Ute and Hyundai Veloster Turbo were both prepared for every practice and qualifying session of the weekend, before the final 100 lap, 300km endurance race on Sunday afternoon.

Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) have recently hosted a successful session of the Demystifying Heat Pumps training at Wodonga TAFE’s Trades Training Centre! Created to equip local plumbers and 4th year apprentices with the knowledge and skills to install energy-efficient hot water system heat pumps and delivered as part of the Upskilling Plumbers Program, this hands-on workshop provided invaluable insights into the operation, installation, and efficiency considerations of modern heat pump technology. Empowering Women in Trades (EWIT), CVGT Employment, Wodonga TAFE, and Skills and Jobs Centre held an experience to encourage women to join the Trades Industry.

Wodonga TAFE was proudly represented at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, with team members Victoria Conlon, Jason Atteridge, Jo Bathols, and Alex Stojanovic attending the national event as part of Truck Week 25 to support the first group of graduates of the Volvo Iron Women Program. The Brisbane Truck Show, one of the largest and most anticipated transport industry events in the Southern Hemisphere, provided the perfect platform to shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done to support and encourage greater diversity in the road transport sector.
