Entry requirements
At Wodonga TAFE we want to give you the best possible chance to complete your course successfully, therefore before you are able to enrol you will need to meet certain requirements in relation to your ability to speak and write in English and the skills or knowledge you need for your chosen course.
Minimum English language requirements
To enrol in a course at Wodonga TAFE you must have gained a minimum score of 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). However for entry into Certificate IV in Nursing the minimum requirement is 7.0 IELTS.
If you have an IELTS score of 5.0 you have the option to enrol in a 10 week ELICOS course to increase your IELTS to 5.5 which will allow you to continue further studies with Wodonga TAFE.
When you apply to study at Wodonga TAFE you will need to provide evidence of your IELTS test results.
General entry requirements
Wodonga TAFE does not accept applications from people who are under the age of 18.
The academic requirements for entry vary between courses. You will generally need to have completed 11 or 12 years of schooling.

Course credits / Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
The skills and knowledge you have developed through work, study and life experiences may help you to gain exemption or credit for parts of a course.
Make sure that you list your previous studies and work experience on your application for admission form, and attach any evidence you have to support your application.
Your evidence might include:
- certified academic transcripts
- certified statements of results
- references from employers.
You should also bring the original copies of your evidence with you when you come to Wodonga TAFE.
Your application for course credits will be referred to an appropriate recognised prior learning assessor.
How to apply
Application form
You will need to complete Wodonga TAFE's International Student - Application for Admission Form. You are required to provide personal details (name, date of birth, address etc) as well as details of:
- your country of citizenship
- any Australian visa you hold or are applying for
- your English language proficiency (including copies of the results of any tests you have done)
- any qualifications and work experience you have (including certified copies of qualifications)
- the course you wish to apply for and when you want to start the course.
Once you have completed and signed this form you should submit it together with any supporting evidence to the Course Information Officer. You can submit the form and evidence by:

It is important to remember that Wodonga TAFE reserves the right to:
- accept or reject any application at its discretion
- withdraw or cancel any course prior to the commencement date of the course.
In these circumstances any payments that have been made to Wodonga TAFE will be refunded. Read the International Student Refund Policy for further details.
Acceptance information
Wodonga TAFE will send you a letter of offer, which may be conditional on the basis that you meet certain requirements. The letter of offer will detail the course information and fees you are required to pay.
You will also receive the 'International Student Agreement Form' together with a copy of Wodonga TAFE's International Student Refund Policy.
Confirmation of enrolment
Before you receive your confirmation of enrolment you will need to:
- complete, sign and return the International Student Agreement Form to Wodonga TAFE as soon as possible.
- pay the tuition fees for your first semester as quoted in your letter of offer and on the agreement form.
- pay the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) cost as quoted in your letter of offer.
Note If you choose to arrange your own OSHC you must do so prior to your departure and bring evidence of this with you when you arrive at Wodonga TAFE.
Once we have received all of the above you will be issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) which you will need when you apply for your Student Visa.
You will also be asked to provide your arrival details to Wodonga TAFE as soon as possible so that we can arrange airport pick-up and take you to your accommodation if required.
Deferring, suspending or cancelling enrolment
Students can apply to defer their studies under compassionate or compelling circumstances.
Compassionate or compelling circumstances are generally those beyond the control of the student and which have an impact on the student's course progress and/or wellbeing. These could include but are not limited to: serious illness, death in the family, major political upheaval or natural disaster in the home country which requires the student to return home, or a traumatic incident.
If you wish to defer your studies you will need to complete and submit a Request for Deferral / Leave of Absence Form to the Course Information Officer as soon as possible before the course is due to commence. You will need to outline your reasons for the request and include any supporting documentation with your request. You will be advised of the outcome of the request by the Manager of Learner Services.
If you wish to cancel your enrolment you will need to complete and submit an Enrolment Variation / Withdrawal Form.
Wodonga TAFE can suspend or cancel a student's enrolment due to misbehaviour. In this instance you will have 20 working days in which to access the internal complaints and appeals process.
Wodonga TAFE's expectations of student conduct are outlined in the Learning Charter which is provided to students on arrival in the Induction Booklet.
You should note that deferring, suspending or cancelling your enrolment at any time could affect your student visa and you should contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for advice.

Changing providers
Students who have completed at least six months of their principal course of study (highest level qualification) with their education provider can transfer to another provider without any restrictions.
Students who want to change providers within the first six months of their principal course of study need to apply for a letter of release from their education provider.
If you are enrolled at Wodonga TAFE and you would like to transfer to another education provider you will need to submit a Request for Transfer between Registered Providers Form to the Course Information Officer.

Refund Policy
Wodonga TAFE's International Student Refund Policy outlines all of the conditions under which refunds are paid to overseas students, when they are paid and how they are paid, as well as the circumstances when no refund is payable.
This policy will be sent to you with your International Student Agreement Form. It will also be provided to you when you arrive at Wodonga TAFE as part of your Induction Booklet, and is available on this website. You must ensure that you read and understand the Refund Policy before signing and returning your Agreement Form.
