Wodonga TAFE signs 'Soldier On' Pledge

Friday, 2 October 2020

Wodonga TAFE has re-signed as a Pledge Company for 'Soldier On'.

Signing a Soldier On Pledge is an agreement to support Australian Defence personnel, veterans and their families by offering a 'Hand up, not a hand out,’ with employment solutions.

Wodonga TAFE is committed to the community and in particular our Australian Defence partners, and signing this pledge is one way we can thank them for their service and recognise the exemplary skills, leadership and training of those who have served Australia.

Through this, Wodonga TAFE will commit to championing the skills and attributes that Defence personnel, veterans and family members can bring to our organisation by working to provide them greater access to job opportunities.

“We are dedicated to offering ongoing support to our Defence communities,” explained Aaron Coutts, General Manager, Operations Education and Training, “This is an exciting day for us and are very much looking forward to working with Soldier On in support of the Veteran community.”

Already, Wodonga TAFE and Army Logistics Training Centre (ALTC) have forged an outstanding partnership in delivering the Australian Defence Force’s technical and trade training capability. This includes the training of Defence Force Medic personnel who are now being deployed to multiple locations across Australia to assist in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic at testing stations, aged care facilities and in support of Paramedics.

“Recognising the valuable role Wodonga TAFE plays in building the capability of our Defence personnel makes me very proud of our partnership”, Wodonga TAFE CEO Phil Paterson said. “It’s also about the contribution TAFE and Defence are making to our community.”

Wodonga TAFE representatives met with Soldier On representatives to sign the pledge and officially launch the partnership, on Thursday 1 October 2020.
