Woodworking Short Course Provides Long Term Skills

Tuesday, 31 January 2023

Completing the Woodworking 101 (NA18WOOD) short course through Wodonga TAFE will help you build and develop a wide range of skills applicable to a variety of future projects.

The course has been designed to provide skills that are relevant to working with a variety of timbers and may be suitable to help kick-start a career in Carpentry or Cabinet Making, or for those who are interested in DIY projects.

Students will attend our newly built Trades Training Centre over a 13 week period (either Tuesday nights or Thursday nights) whilst developing the their knowledge of using power tools safely and learn the importance of precise measurement being applied to a project.

They conduct a project that develops their confidence in joining and construction using both native Australian hardwoods as well as exotic timbers.

Th skills learnt throughout this short course are transferable and aim to increase a student’s confidence in the processing of timber projects. With the course being suitable for any skill level it can be enjoyed and benefited from by everyone.

“This course is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain a wide range of woodworking skills that can be used at the home, at work or even applied to future study opportunities,” Jesse Van Egmond, Wodonga TAFE’s Cabinet Making Teacher explains.

“The course is conducted in a relaxed environment, with students having the opportunity to discuss with me any areas of training they are requiring a bit more assistance with, and can even bring in their projects from home for expert guidance if they would like.”

Wodonga TAFE offers Woodworking 101 on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6pm – 9pm with the next Tuesday course date running from 21 February to 30 June and the next Thursday course date running 2 March to 8 June.

If you would like to enrol in this short course, or find out further information of our timber studies courses please contact our friendly customer service team on 1300 698 233 or visit our website www.wodongatafe.edu.au
