Motorsports Training Australia (MTA)

This course is available only to those undertaking Motorsports Training Australia’s Certificate IV in Motorsport Technology AUR40316 and is run alongside it and aimed at automotive technicians who want to specialise in the retail aftermarket, or high-performance road car industry. This course is a perfect companion to the Certificate IV in Motorsport with which it is co-delivered, and you’ll learn the further technical ins and outs of getting the most out of your equipment and therefore, the cars.

In this second year of study (following the Certificate III in Motor Sport Technology AUR30916) you will achieve the Certificate IV in Motor Sport Technology AUR40316, which is supported by additional units of competency identified as valuable to the motorsports industry. This program develops more advanced technical skills in preparation for a successful career in the industry. Theory (classroom activity) is consolidated with ‘hands-on’ workshops and trackside experience with a range of MTA equipment including a V8 Supercar, Formula Ford, karts, a speedway car and other vehicles from our partner organisations.

Most racing teams see this qualification - and studying with Motorsports Training Australia - as the minimum point of entry into the industry. Many of our graduates have achieved excellent employment outcomes in the motorsports industry after they have completed this certificate. Further study is available in a Certificate IV or enter an apprenticeship in the motorsports/auto performance industry or allied trades. You learn all facets of a motor vehicle, with an inclination towards performance and sports vehicles. You also learn about the industry of motorsports.

This course is offered as an apprenticeship for people employed as an apprentice in the light vehicle industry. Throughout this course apprentices will develop the skills and required competencies to perform safe work practices and a broad range of mechanical work on light vehicles within the service and repair sector of the Automotive industry.
