Overview
The Certificate IV In Residential Drafting is ideal for:
- direct entry of school leavers looking for a pathway to further studies
- those seeking to gain employment within the building design industry
Begin your career as a draftsperson and gain hands-on, specialised skills required to gain employment with an architect, building designer or builder.
Throughout this course you will develop a range of skills including but not limited to:
- Inspect and assess sites to inform the design process
- Use CAD software to produce drawings for building design projects
- Apply compliance requirements to Class 1 and 10 building design documentation
These skills will enable you to work across all aspects of the drafting industry and help design the future!

Requirements
You may need to complete an interview as part of the selection process for this course dependant on LLN entry level.
You require sound English language and literacy skills.
You need to have successfully completed Year 12, or enrol as a mature age applicant and/or have relevant work experience in the building industry.
You will need access to a computer and internet at home to successfully complete this course. If this is an issue, please contact Wodonga TAFE to discuss alternative options that may be available.
If you are not located near Wodonga TAFE, you may need to obtain your Construction Induction Card (White Card) through an external provider that offers face-to-face training. If you already hold a White Card, you will need to provide a Statement of Attainment as evidence so that a credit can be applied to your enrolment.
Assessment
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different student’s needs will be selected, including written work, practical work, demonstrations and exhibiting your work and skills.
