Overview
This program offers hands-on training for those seeking to start a career in the dynamic transport, warehousing, and supply chain industries. This practical, entry-level program equips students with the skills needed for safe and efficient work in a variety of roles. The course is split into two streams, Transport and Warehousing, to provide tailored training that aligns with specific career goals in either transport or warehousing.
The Transport stream focuses on equipping students with the essential skills required for a career in the transport sector. Students will learn to secure cargo properly for transport and follow safety procedures that ensure safe and efficient operations. The course covers vehicle inspections, ensuring students understand how to inspect and maintain vehicles to keep them roadworthy. Additionally, students will learn how to use and maintain basic mechanical equipment, which is vital in many transport-related roles. Manual handling techniques for shifting materials are also a core part of the curriculum, ensuring that students can handle goods safely. By the end of this stream, students will gain either a Medium Rigid Licence or a Heavy Rigid Licence and be prepared to take on roles like delivery drivers, transport coordinators, or logistics assistants.
The Warehousing stream is designed for those interested in working in warehouse/supply chain settings, with a focus on skills that are crucial to warehouse operations. Students will develop proficiency in safely operating a forklift, as they complete a Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck unit, a requirement for many warehousing jobs. The curriculum also covers advanced forklift operations, preparing students for specialised tasks in the warehouse. In addition to forklift training, students will learn how to safely shift materials using manual handling techniques and ensure workplace safety standards are met. Vehicle inspections and the use of minor mechanical equipment are also covered to support a well-rounded skillset for warehouse operations. Upon completing this stream, students will gain a Forklift Licence and will be equipped to pursue roles such as forklift operators, warehouse assistants, or logistics coordinators.
