Information session FAQs

Read on to find the answers to some commonly-asked questions around information sessions.

Do you really need to attend the information session?

We always advise that you do attend if you're able to, as the course information provided will be very detailed, with lots of questions answered for prospective students. But, if you are unable to attend due to other commitments, you may contact us to talk directly to a Course Contact Person. 

Do you need to bring anything with you to the information session?

Bring a pen and paper with you so you can take notes or jot down important points. You may also receive additional printed information about the course - as well as information about study pathways and support services that are available. 

Will you get to meet the teachers of the course?

Yes, you will. The course coordinator and teachers from the course will present the information session - so you will be able to ask them all the questions you need answers to, or just listen if that's what you're comfortable with. 

Will you have to fill out any paperwork?

Not usually - at the session you will be directed on how to apply for the course online. 

Will you have to pay for anything at that time?

No, the course tuition fees are discussed but payment occurs when you finalise your enrolment. 

Is it okay to bring your children with you if you can't find anyone to look after them?

If you are unable to find a carer, then you are welcome to bring your children with you. It would be a good idea to bring something to occupy them quietly so they will sit through the information session too. 

Is it okay to bring along your mum/partner/friend to the info session?

Yes, it's a great idea to bring support along with you. They might also be interested in finding out about the course - particularly if they're going to be part of your support network while you study or attend TAFE. 

If you can't make it to the information session, will you miss out on the course?

No, but you do need to contact the Course Contact Person to make sure you have all the correct information and instructions you need to be able to apply for the course.

You're not really sure if this is the course for you - is it still okay to come and find out more?

Yes, definitely! The teachers can assist you to explore your options and can refer you to the Careers Advisor for further assistance if you need it.
