Join us for National Sorry Day
Wednesday, 21 May 2025
National Sorry Day, officially the National Day of Healing, is an event held annually in Australia on 26 May commemorating the Stolen Generations. It is part of the ongoing efforts towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
Join us at McKoy Street campus | 26 May, 10:30am

The Koorie Education Unit would like to extend a warm welcome to all staff and students to participate in our National Sorry Day activity
- 10:30am -- Smoking ceremony with emerging Elder, Derek Murray
- 11am -- A heartfelt presentation by Alison Reid who will be sharing her personal story on the stolen generation
Light refreshments will be provided for those attending on-site at McKoy street. Activity will end at 12pm.
For staff and students who are unable to join us, here are some meaningful ways you can do to participate during your free time:
- Attend an alternative event in your local area
- Learn about the Stolen Generations
- Reflect on the significance of National Sorry Day
- Plant native flowers or trees
Keep an eye for all our activities lined up for National Reconciliation Week. Additionally, we're running a fundraising campaign in support of Children's Ground. Read more about it here.
