Industry professionals take the student journey to learn how to teach their profession
Friday, 21 October 2022
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is designed to equip industry experts with the skills and knowledge to teach their profession.
Students completing this qualification bring a diverse range of skills and experience to the classroom as they step from industry to start their training journey. This means a range of interesting activities is always on display as they work up to their practical teaching scenarios.
One such student this year was David Brown who was updating his qualification for his training role with Fire Rescue Victoria.
David developed his sessions around ‘how to use first attack fire fighting equipment’. He explained the different types of fires and then demonstrated the use of the appropriate fire extinguisher. As David supervised, students took turns using a range of fire extinguishers.
This is a great example of how to engage adult learners in a safe, practical and ‘real’ learning experience.
