Students in Work Education discover more about the Uiver restoration project

Monday, 31 May 2021

Passionate about planes, students completing the Certificate I in Work Education were thrilled to explore Albury’s aviation history last week.

Volunteer Rus Jacob gave the students a tour of the Uiver Memorial DC-2 restoration project housed at Albury airport. Rus talked about the history of the Uiver plane and the many skills needed to restore a plane. Early tasks in the restoration included removing aluminium cladding on the ailerons (nonstandard), disassembling the propellers, wheel hubs, and tailwheel structure, bead blasting corroded parts, making workbenches, and much more.
