Course Overview
#### Overview
This course builds the basics, enabling you to gain the skills and knowledge for your start in the vibrant fashion and clothing industry. You will learn pattern construction, illustration, and garment construction using a variety of materials and techniques by studying aspects of the fashion design process. This course covers ideas and concept building, right through to completed garments. Build a solid skill base and gain practical experience using industry-standard equipment and technology in our fashion studio. Turn your love of fashion and clothes into creating your pathway to a fashion design career, or gain extra skills to design and make your own garments and textiles to show off your individual style and flair!
There are no pre-requisites for entry into this qualification, however it is advised that students have basic skills in using sewing machines and IT, as technology is used throughout the course to organise and maintain data.
- Students are required to have access to a sewing machine, computer, digital camera or phone camera.
- Students will use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud (PhotoShop), and Outlook, as well as other online applications such as Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram.

#### Duration
12 months, 2.5 days per week on campus PLUS additional online learning and assessment
#### Schedule
On-campus/blended: 2023 intake - course commencing Tuesday 14 February 2023 - 2 days per week, Tuesday and Wednesdays, on campus. Note: in second semester this increases to 2.5 days per week with the addition of Fridays 9am-12pm practical class for garment creation. See on-campus attendance hours below. This course is classroom-based and supported by additional online learning in Moodle, our student learning system. To be successful in this qualification students must allocate 2-3 days each week in off-campus studies to complete assessments.
**On-campus attendance:**
- Term 1: Tuesdays 9am-4pm, Wednesdays 9am-12pm.
- Term 2: Tuesdays 9am-4pm, Wednesdays 9am-4pm.
- Term 3: Tuesdays 9am-4pm, Wednesdays 9am-4pm, Fridays 9am-12pm.
- Term 4: Tuesdays 9am-4pm, Wednesdays 9am-12pm, Fridays 9am-12pm.
#### Field Placement
While there are no field placements associated with this course, all students have the opportunity to enter student fashion awards and exhibit their work throughout the year. All students participate in a major exhibition in November each year, and this is an excellent opportunity to start or extend your exhibition practice for your portfolio.

The student tuition fees published are indicative only and can be subject to change given individual circumstances at the time of enrolment. Funding made available to eligible individuals by State and Commonwealth Governments. If funding is utilised, this may affect future opportunities to access additional funding in the future. - Once you submit an application for this course you will receive a separate email from LLN Robot to complete a Learning, Reading, Writing, Oral and Numeracy Assessment online. Please check your junk mail if this does not come to your inbox. All students are asked to complete an LLN assessment to determine any support requirements and to ensure the course and mode of delivery is suitable for the student.
- Please allow one hour to complete the LLN Robot Assessment. You will need a computer with speakers or headphones as there is an audio section included in the assessment.
- Your LLN Assessment will need to be completed one week after receiving it to progress your application to the next stage, or your application may be withdrawn due to inactivity.
- If you are unable to access the LLN Robot Assessment link please contact our Customer Experience team as soon as possible.
- Note: Completion of the LLN Robot Assessment does not guarantee a place in the course at Wodonga TAFE. Numbers are limited and selected applicants will be contacted to attend an interview. If an applicant is not accepted into their preferred course they will be contacted and provided information on alternate pathways and/or courses.
