Course Overview
Overview
This qualification will develop your knowledge and practical skills to sort and classify wool into various sale types. You will learn skills in determining wool classing strategies, valuing wool, supervising work routines and staff performance, managing shearing and crutching operations, as well as classing wool for special markets. At the end of the course, you should also be able to provide information and advice on wool preparation, and implementing and monitoring quality assurance procedures.
Delivery
- Flexible delivery mode, depending on the cohort, with a minimum of 6-hours commitment per week.
- Will be taught in various training locations across Victoria.
- Possible weekends, night or during the week classes.
- Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this in your own workplace (where appropriate).
- Assessment strategies include written tests, project reports, oral presentations and practical demonstration assessments in either a classroom or workplace environment.
- Due to the nature of delivery, students would need to have their own transport to the training locations.

Part-time: 12 Months
Requirements
- Wearing suitable enclosed footwear
- It is strongly advised applicants to have completed Year 12 and at least 18 years of age
Wool classing and work in a shearing shed requires the need to conduct physical work in a timely manner
Assessment
Assessment includes both theory and practical assessments.
Other Information
Face-to-face in a dynamic interactive classroom setting.

This allows you to register as a professional Australian Wool Classer. This qualification will also enhance the opportunities for graduates to further their careers in the wool industry, including farm manager, wool buying and exporting and wool broking.
