Advanced Manufacturing

Our vision for Advanced Manufacturing

Harnessing developments in Advanced Manufacturing at Wodonga TAFE have been an integral feature of the Logic Innovation Precinct.  The Precinct  will support the development of advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies throughout the region, by providing spaces for students, local industry and researchers, to come and try the technologies and engage with new concepts and methodologies, helping them ascertain how they may be best employed within their organisations and projects.

Vision

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Support the development of Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 skills through micro credentials, access to expertise and mentor programs.

TECHNOLOGY ACCESS

Enable small to medium sized Industry to access Advanced Manufacturing technologies out of their reach.

ABILITY TO SCALE

Empower small to medium sized organisations to scale and increase competitiveness.

PARTNERSHIPS

Gain support of large industry and universities through sponsorships, program partnerships and academic pathways.

RESEARCH SPACE

Provide a space for Research and Development and experimentation.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Promote the clean economy through engagement with renewable energies and sustainable materials and circular design and production principles.

Within the scope of Advanced Manufacturing at Wodonga TAFE we have three new facilities, each designed to complement and progress from the one before; MakerSpace, Advanced Manufacturing Experiential Labs, and Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Workshops.

Industry Consultation

We're keen to hear from industry about our plans for Advanced Manufacturing, including the facilities and equipment we can have available to students, clients and industry.

MakerSpace

Wodonga TAFE's MakerSpace shall deliver a student and community focused facility on our McKoy St Campus. The MakerSpace will enable the local community, including schools, as well as our staff and students to benefit from a hands-on taster of Advanced Manufacturing technologies, skill and concepts within a space that supports and encourages exploration and innovation.

Experiential Labs

The Experiential Labs – Data and Cyber, Additive Manufacturing and Robotics and Automation - have each been designed around providing access to semi-industrial technology that will develop the skills to support digital drafting, data analysis, Industry 4.0, coding of collaborative robots (CoBots) and prototyping using additive manufacturing technologies.

Industrial Workshops (Seeking Funding)

The Industrial Workshops will be housed in a bespoke new facility called the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Workshops, as part of the Logic Innovation Precinct. This facility shall create an accessible environment that is equally available to industry, individuals, academia, Emergency Services and Defence to work collaboratively and will build the required skills to encourage creativity, research, innovation and learning to propel the future of manufacturing within the Albury Wodonga region.

Our journey so far

We spent time listening to the needs of industry and finding ways to address concerns about being unable to access the staff and the skills needed to take advantage of Advanced Manufacturing (AM). We have designed our AM vision to support industry in growing their understanding of the technologies and concepts and to provide local access to equipment.

Industry told us a local Advanced Manufacturing Centre must……

  • Be secure and provide privacy to protect my intellectual property
  • Provide access to equipment through facility hire arrangements
  • Run programs to develop skills in:
    • Using and maintaining the equipment
    • Using design and production software
    • Industry 4.0 and Smart Factories
    • Cyber Security and Data Analytics

We’d love it to also….

  • Be mobile and able to be booked to come to my worksite
  • Be bookable for production quality validation as well as prototyping
  • Have the latest equipment so I can try before I buy as my business grows
