Wodonga TAFE's Board

The role of Wodonga TAFE's Board is to oversee and govern the organisation efficiently and effectively; develop and implement strategic plans and statements of corporate intent in accordance with the requirements of the Act; and oversee the operational planning of Wodonga TAFE.

The skills-based Board is comprised of members who have experience in Management, Health, Defence,  Finance, Corporate Governance, Law and Adult and Tertiary Education, with the majority coming from the local region. The Board is committed to ethical conduct in line with the Victorian Public Sector Commission Code of Conduct and is ultimately responsible to the Victorian Government for the governance and management of the Wodonga TAFE.

Board members are either appointed by the Minister, appointed by the Board, or elected by staff. The CEO is an ex-officio director.

Allison Jenvey
(Board Chair, OAM)

Allison is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Allison has significant governance experience on local Boards and Committees. In 2022, Allison received the Medal of the Order of Australia for her contribution to education, business and the community.

Phil Paterson

Phil is the CEO of Wodonga Institute of TAFE and as such is the Managing Director on the Board. Phil provides leadership and advice to the Wodonga TAFE Board on establishing objectives, policies, priorities and plans for Wodonga TAFE. Phil works with the Wodonga TAFE Board, the Higher Education and Skills Group, and community and industry partners.

Vern Hilditch

Vern is the Executive Principal of Wodonga Senior Secondary College, Wodonga Middle Years College, and the four Campuses of the North East Flexible Centre Network. He is the Chair of the Wodonga Indigo Schools Network which covers 22 schools in North East Victoria and is a member of several community boards in Albury-Wodonga.

Catherine Prichard

Catherine has over 30 years experience as an accountant in both public and private enterprise having worked in executive roles within the Australian Taxation Office and for large and small public accounting practices, including KPMG and Coopers & Lybrand. She has extensive experience in internal governance reporting and review and approval of statutory returns. She currently has an active role in family farming enterprises in North East Victoria and southern NSW.

Annette Kearns

Annette has extensive experience in the tertiary education sector having recently retired from the role of Deputy CEO, General Manager Client Services with Apprentices Trainees Employment Ltd (ATEL). She was a Director of Group Training Victoria and an original member of the North East Local Learning and Employment Network (NELLEN).

Glenda Beecher

Glenda is a qualified solicitor and barrister who relocated to North East Victoria and has taken up roles leading the human resources functions in local government organisations. She previously worked at Monash University as the Director, Workplace Relations and Deputy General Counsel, and in private legal practice.

Morgana Ryan

Morgana is an internationally experienced leader in strategy, IT and organisational transformation across the corporate and international development sectors. Morgana is also the author of two books on International NGOs and is currently Board Chair at Infoxchange. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dave Smith, AM, CSC, DSM

Dave served for over 34 years in the Australian Army, eventually retiring at the rank of Brigadier. During his service he commanded at every level from platoon to brigade, and saw operational service in East Timor, Solomon Islands, and Afghanistan. He also held numerous key staff positions focusing on strategy, risk management, and organisational renewal. He now runs his own consultancy business while continuing to serve as a Board Director of Disaster Relief Australia.

Allison Winters

Allison Winters (they/them) is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and alumni of the Victorian Government LGBTIQ+ Leadership Program. Allison has 10 years experience as a Registered Nurse and significant involvement in a range of community organisations within the Hume region, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Luke Wilson

Luke is an experienced public sector leader and advocate, with a long career shaping policy agendas across jurisdictions and shaping organisational strategy in public sector agencies. Luke was Victoria’s first Cross Border Commissioner, from 2018 to 2023, advocating for communities and businesses along each of Victoria’s state borders. He runs his own policy & regulatory consultancy in Wodonga and is a member of several advisory boards with La Trobe University.

Matthew Austin

Matt is the Educational Leader Community Services and Health with Wodonga TAFE and the elected Staff Director on the Board. Matt has a passion for the delivery of quality education and training and believes access to quality education can be life-changing and subsequently transformative for our community. Matt's career extends from supporting clients in the health care sector, to managing and operating his own business, through to delivering high-quality education and training in both the higher education and VET sectors.
