An experience day for aspiring tradeswomen

Thursday, 15 May 2025

Last 13 – 14 May, Empowering Women in Trades (EWIT), CVGT Employment, Wodonga TAFE, and Skills and Jobs Centre welcomed a group of women to the Trades Training Centre to experience Carpentry, Electrotechnology, AutoCAD, and Plumbing trades, giving them exposure to a range of tools and an understanding of the range of roles within them. It is an annual program for women and those who identify as women, aged 16 and up, to experience these exciting careers firsthand.

Isabella Lee with Skills and Jobs Centre’s Engagement Officer Narelle James

One of the attendees, Isabella Lee, signed up to our Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) UEE22020, one of the many free TAFE programs – showcasing how powerful these experience days can be and a great way to provide a space for these women to explore these careers.

There was also training around mental health, security, and financial literacy conducted by the organisers.
