Jobs Victoria, the Victorian Government’s tailored approach to employment services, has funded a consortium project in Tallangatta that will see twelve local participants offered training and additional support with the ultimate aim of gaining employment in the community services and health industry sectors. This project is based in Tallangatta and also involves direct support from the Towong Shire, the Tallangatta Health Service, Wodonga TAFE and the Wodonga Skills and Jobs Centre. The formal training commenced on 9 May 2017, and by the end of May the participants had completed training in digital technology, and also gained their First Aid qualifications!

The Jobs Victoria project training continues over 2017, and is now providing industry orientation to participants to enable them to visit the Tallangatta Health Service and engage in activities with residents and staff. The integration of the learning with the Health Service will enable the Jobs Victoria participants to gain an excellent understanding and appreciation of the industry, and also gain the skills required to be successful employees in the health and community services sectors.

Pictured below are photos of the initial welcome and formal commencement morning – along with students celebrating the completion of their First Aid certificate.
