This course is available for both apprentices and non-apprentices. Learn with practical hands-on experience in our fully-equipped Hair Design Salon! Successful completion of the Certificate III in Hairdressing will give you the skills and knowledge you need to be employed as a hairdresser working as part of a team in a hairdressing environment. You will become competent in communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services, and designing and applying a broad range of technical hairdressing services on clients. You will possess a range of well-developed skills where discretion and judgement is required and be responsible for your own output.
**To successfully complete the Certificate III in Hairdressing you must complete 21 core units and 7 electives (28 in total).

Attendance required:
- Apprentices: 1 day per week 8.30am-4.30pm, with 2 salon visits per year. Minimum 2 years. Monthly progress updates.
- Non-apprentices: 2 days per week for 2 years. Subject to you completing a Certificate II in Salon Assistant or equivalent qualification.** (18 months)
Successful completion of this course gives you a great pathway into further studies at Certificate IV level.

Duration
On campus (non-apprenticeship): 2 years. Apprenticeship: Minimum 2 years.
Schedule
Non-apprenticeship (on campus): 2024 course intake commencing Monday 1 July - two days per week (Wednesdays & Thursdays), 9am-4pm.
Apprenticeship: 1 day per week 8.30am-4.30pm with monthly salon visits. Minimum 2 years
Apprenticeship Year 1 - Wednesdays on campus, 8.30am-4.30pm, with monthly salon visits. Minimum 2 years
Apprenticeship Year 2 - Tuesdays on campus, 8.30am-4.30pm, with monthly salon visits. Minimum 2 years
Requirements
- Applicants must have completed Certificate II in Salon Assistant or equivalent qualification.
- Applicants must also attend an interview prior to course entry.
Field Placement
Placement to be arranged by the student over the period of training.
