Certificate II in Sports Turf Management

Overview

Build the skills and knowledge you need to work in a variety of roles within sports turf management, advancing your opportunities to become an apprentice in the field.

This course will develop your skills in machinery operation, turf renovation, turf establishment, plant and weed identification, soils and plant nutrition, pests and diseases, management, construction of turf surfaces and occupational health and safety.

Requirements

You must be employed as a trainee in industry to commence this course.

General outcomes include the below, however there are many electives you can undertake:

Install and maintain irrigation systems

* Control pests, diseases and weeds
* Establish, construct and renovate turf and playing surfaces
* Environmentally sustainable work practices

* Prepare Sports Turf playing surfaces

AHCIRG221 Assist with pressurised irrigation operations
AHCMOM203 Operate basic machinery and equipment
AHCTRF205 Assist in the preparation of turf surfaces for play
AHCTRF207 Renovate grassed areas
AHCTRF208 Support turf establishment
AHCPMG201 Treat weeds
AHCPMG202 Treat plant pests, diseases and disorders
AHCWHS202 Participate in workplace health and safety processes

By successfully completing this course you will receive an AQF Qualification

Given the nature of Agriculture, Environment and Horticulture qualifications, the units you will undertake in your studies vary greatly depending upon your line of work and/or personal choice.
