Learn to identify and prevent food safety hazards, implement food safety skills, and safe food handling procedures. The course consists of a workshop conducted on-campus in a simulated environment. You must be able to supply evidence of attendance at a food hygiene course within the last five years. Most food premises require a food safety supervisor.
The Safe Food Handling Certificate (Level 1) covers correct storage temperatures, dealing with high risk foods, maintaining personal hygiene, cleaning food preparation areas, and pest control. The skills and knowledge from this short course will ensure you meet your legal obligations under the Food Safety Standards and serve food that is free of hygiene hazards and safe for your customers to consume.
The Food Safety Supervisor (Level 2) covers how to supervise food handling in the business and how to make sure it is done safely. You'll learn how the food safety processes work within a business and the steps required to ensure food is handled safely at all times through the roles and responsibilities of a Food Safety Supervisor. The skills and knowledge from this course will ensure you can recognise, prevent and alleviate hazards associated with food handling, along with the ability and authority to supervise other people and handling food at your premises.
In order to complete the Food Safety Supervisor, it is strongly recommended that students either hold a Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or have a thorough understanding of handling food safely in the workplace. Assessments are completed within class times, and consists of a series of written questions, based on information the student has received throughout the class, building on previous knowledge learnt from a Safe Food Handling Certificate.
