Course in EAL

Overview

The Course in EAL is designed for EAL participants who have little prior educational experience or whose circumstances have resulted in disrupted education and who need to develop initial level basic English speaking, listening, reading and writing, numeracy and learning skills prior to accessing further English language education and possible employment.

Full-time: 12 months

Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course but you will be asked to undertake an English language assessment to determine your skill levels.

Assessment

The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different student's needs will be selected, including written and oral assessments.

• Communicate basic personal details and needs
• Read and write short basic messages and forms
• Give and respond to basic information and instructions
• Read and write short, basic factual texts
• Recognise numbers and money
• Recognise and locate numerical information

Certification

By successfully completing this course you will receive a nationally recognised AQF qualification.

• In addition to supplied materials please bring A4 notebook or paper, pens, pencils, ruler and an eraser.

Students referred under the AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program) are eligible for free English classes.

The student tuition fees published are indicative only and can be subject to change given individual circumstances at the time of enrolment. Funding made available to eligible individuals by State and Commonwealth Governments. If funding is utilised, this may affect opportunities to access additional funding in the future.
