Logical Innovation Precinct

Training for the future, delivered today.

Wodonga TAFE Logical Innovation Precinct

Wodonga TAFE's Logical Innovation Precinct is a game-changer for the region and beyond, meeting the needs of many industries and sectors, including heavy vehicles and transport, logistics, advanced manufacturing, automation and robotics, civil construction, Defence, and emergency services.

Logical Innovation Precinct brings together current and future skills by integrating three segments: Research and Education, Industry Partners, and an Innovation Ecosystem.

Bringing new product ideas, innovation, and future-thinking, Logical Innovation Precinct will support economic growth, jobs, sustainability, and infrastructure, while providing investment opportunities in alignment with government funding and initiatives.

Logical Innovation Precinct combines the existing and evolving training opportunities for Wodonga TAFE into six key deliverable areas, that will be developed over the coming years to form the integrated partnerships required to meet the training needs of the future for our industries and communities.

Logical Innovation Precinct development is formulated into two key stages, and provides the scope for an array of additional future development.

Stage One - Heavy Vehicle Technology and Advanced Manufacturing (Experiential Facility)

Heavy Vehicle Technology, Advanced Manufacturing (Experiential Facility), and industry and corporate engagement

Stage One will see the delivery of a combination of refreshed and bespoke spaces to support research into and training of heavy vehicle operation, maintenance and testing, as part of our Heavy Vehicle Technology Program. This is about more than just driver safety — it will add Australian skills, expertise, and jobs through investment in advanced technical trades. Wodonga TAFE's Heavy Vehicle Program will deliver a state-of-the-art proving, experimentation, and training ground providing comprehensive driver training for heavy vehicle operators.

Advanced Manufacturing (Experiential Facility) is designed around providing access to small scale technology that will develop the skills to support digital drafting, data analysis, Industry 4.0, coding of collaborative robots (Co-Bots) and prototyping using additive manufacturing technologies. Whereas the Advanced Manufacturing (Industrial Facility) is a Centre of Execellence and is dedicated to providing a scaled industrial experience of Advanced Manufacturing.

In addition, new main client and corporate spaces will be built to further encourage industry and community use of the precinct alongside research and training in advanced manufacturing, heavy vehicle technology and future fuels.

Stage Two - Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (Industrial Facility)

Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (Industrial Facility)

Primarily focussed on weaving advanced manufacturing technologies and principles into the precinct, Stage Two sees the delivery of the Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence as a fully industrial scaled facility that will build upon the skills development focus of the experiential facility, by expanding the offering to provide opportunities for local industry to access equipment for prototyping, research, short run production and parts replacement. This facility will act as a library of sorts, with workshops available to hire so that local businesses may use equipment that is readily available and that can help to inform their investment choices. This new facility shall house workshops dedicated to Additive Manufacturing, Precision Engineering and Robotics and Automation.

Further opportunities

Further development opportunities

Future additions to the precinct may include the development of facilities to provide training for our Emergency Services, further heavy vehicle offerings regarding the interaction of our logistics vehicles with the rail cargo network, and for research, testing, and training into the deployment of drones for warehousing, and agriculture industries.
