Building A Transformation

The Building A Renovation project has begun!

We are thrilled to announce that we have finally reached the commencement stage of the Building A renewal project, a significant milestone for our campus. This exciting construction project will transform the current Main Administration Building “Building A” into a modern Student Hub Precinct. It will serve as the main entry point, featuring WIOT branding for enhanced campus visibility.

Project Background: The conceptual design works for this project began back in April 2023, with extensive stakeholder engagement throughout the process. Our primary objective is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students. The new Student Hub will be a comprehensive one-stop-shop, offering:

  • Catering options and self-catering spaces
  • Learning pods and quiet spaces
  • Relocation of our library services from La Trobe's David Mann Library to become a core service in our upgraded facility
  • Small workspaces for study groups, visiting services, and event areas, including facilities for showcasing events
  • A front-facing student information centre to unify services, ensuring a seamless experience for all students, both on campus and remotely

Additionally, this project will consolidate executive and corporate staff from dispersed locations into one central location, encouraging daily interaction among corporate functions, promoting knowledge transfer and efficiency while ensuring privacy through furniture barriers.

Does this affect parking?

Yes - There is a designated area for parking still available at McKoy Street. Any areas that have been blocked off will be clearly marked so please use the designated foot paths and available car park spaces for your own safety.

What will Building A be used for?

Our primary objective is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students.
