Wodonga Institute of TAFE is located in the twin cities of Albury Wodonga, on the border of Victoria and New South Wales. This area is one of the fastest-growing economies in regional Australia.
Founded in 1986, Wodonga Institute of TAFE has become integral to the growth and sustainability of our regional economy, delivering over 2.5 million student contact hours in training every year. This influence is made possible through a range of partnerships and links with industry and community organisations, other registered training organisations, universities, and local chambers of commerce. In the local region, Wodonga TAFE services the city of Wodonga, the Victorian shires of Alpine, Indigo, and Towong, and the New South Wales local government areas of Albury, Greater Hume, and Corowa. Wodonga TAFE also delivers training in every mainland state and territory of Australia.
Wodonga TAFE provides practical, hands-on training and education from certificate I to advanced diploma level across a range of industry areas. Our industry-simulated training facilities include specialist training centres such as the National Industrial Skills Training Centre and Motorsports Training Australia.
In 2015, Wodonga TAFE was judged Victorian Large Training Provider of the Year as well as being a finalist in the Australian Training Awards. This demonstrates our commitment to lead practice and excellence in the delivery of vocational education and training to diverse groups of learners from industry and the community.
Wodonga TAFE is strategically committed to engage in partnerships and formal understandings with other TAFE Institutes, registered training organisations (RTOs), and higher education providers. Learners are often able to use credits from their Wodonga TAFE qualifications towards a degree, and in some instances, receive guaranteed entry to a university degree course. The combination of a TAFE qualification and a degree provides graduates with a well-rounded education that combines practical TAFE training with the academic underpinning knowledge provided by the completion of a degree. This enables graduates from Wodonga Institute to have a head-start in their careers, starting work in industry while they complete their university degrees.
Wodonga TAFE's teachers are passionate and enthusiastic to share their knowledge with others. Our teachers have either recently worked in or are currently working in industry, and continually receive the seal of approval from their students for their commitment, industry knowledge, and willingness to put in the extra effort to help students achieve their goals.
Our students consistently report high levels of satisfaction with their learning experiences at Wodonga TAFE. In 2010, 97 per cent of students surveyed indicated that they would recommend Wodonga TAFE to others.
