Upper Murray Community Recovery Hub in Corryong for Mother's Day

Wednesday, 13 May 2020

Further to our assistance to the Upper Murray communities after the devastating bushfire this year, and continued COVID-19 impact, Wodonga TAFE has donated 200 plants to the Upper Murray Community Recovery Hub, Mother's day activities.

Our Ag/Hort department spent time researching specific varieties suited to the region, and are currently in the process of growing approximately 2000 seedlings to support the communities in the Upper Murray even further.

Jenny McKoy, Local Area Recovery Officer, for Towong Shire collected the plants today, and said "Due to COVID-19, face-to-face catch ups have unfortunately stopped. However with this kind donation we will deliver a plant to each farm mail box with a ribbon attached and a brief message to let them know we are thinking of them, as well as wish every mother a wonderful Mother's Day. These plants are destined for the Walwa area across to Cudgewa, who were obviously severely affected by the fires."
