Our Community Services and Health department staff are supporting Movember

Monday, 11 November 2019

Good MOrning! We are nearly two weeks into MOvember and to support their Men’s Health promotion our Community Services and Health department staff are raising awareness and funds for this cause. A department morning tea boosted their fundraising last week with attending staff contributing a gold coin donation to the tin. Other staff from across Wodonga TAFE are also welcomed to participate, and the team will be walking around the TAFE's main campus visiting classrooms this week to raise further awareness and collect additional donations towards this great cause.

And if you don’t grow a mo you can still get involved with Move for MOvember. Make your Move this MOvember by running or walking 60 kilometres over the month! That’s 60 kilometres for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.

MOvember is the leading charity for men’s health.  Men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50 years. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 60% of all suicides.
