Youth Spotlight - Meet Danae

Danae Lowden is proving that following your passion can open doors, no matter the challenges life puts in your path. Currently studying a Certificate IV in Design (CUA40725), Danae has always been drawn to art and creativity. After completing graphic design studies during secondary school and moving out of home at just 16, she made the courageous decision to pursue a future that felt true to who she is.

Determined to build a career doing what she loves, Danae has embraced every opportunity to grow her skills. Since starting her course, she has gained confidence in using industry tools such as Photoshop and developed a deeper understanding of the design process. Her hard work recently paid off when she won the North East Battle of the Bands Poster Design Competition for the Wodonga region; a milestone she says would not have been possible before beginning her studies.

Outside of TAFE, Danae enjoys bike riding, working at Coles and, most of all, graphic design, a hobby she never tires of. Looking ahead, she hopes to establish her own graphic design business, continue her studies and explore the world through travel.

Her message to other young people is simple but powerful: “Art is for everyone. Don’t let other people get you down. You will find like-minded people, just be true to yourself.” Danae’s journey is a reminder that resilience, authenticity and passion are a powerful combination.
