Have a go at WorldSkills 2026 with Wodonga TAFE
Friday, 29 May 2026
Wodonga TAFE is proud to be taking part in the 2026 Regional WorldSkills Australia Competition, giving our students the chance to step beyond the classroom and showcase their skills in a real-world industry environment.
WorldSkills is more than a competition. It is an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build confidence, connect with industry, and discover just how far their skills can take them.
Whether you are studying a trade, hospitality, community services, technology, or another vocational pathway, WorldSkills is designed to celebrate practical skills, passion, and the future of industry.
Why Students Should Get Involved
Taking part in WorldSkills gives students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a practical, hands-on setting that reflects real workplace expectations.
Students who compete often walk away with far more than technical skills. The experience helps develop confidence, resilience, and professionalism while strengthening employability skills that industry values highly.
Some of the key benefits include:
- Building confidence in your abilities
- Learning how to perform under pressure
- Developing time management and planning skills
- Strengthening critical thinking and problem-solving
- Networking with industry professionals and peers
- Gaining valuable experience for resumes and future job opportunities
- Representing Wodonga TAFE on a regional stage
Most importantly, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
You do not need to be “the best” to get involved. WorldSkills is about growth, learning, and having a go.
Supported Every Step of the Way
Students taking part in WorldSkills will be supported by Wodonga TAFE teachers and mentors throughout the journey.
From refining technical skills and preparing for competition conditions to building confidence and managing nerves, teachers play an important role in helping students feel ready to take on the experience.
The mentorship and encouragement students receive along the way can make a real difference, helping competitors grow not only in their skills, but also in their confidence and belief in what they are capable of achieving.
WorldSkills is not just about the final result. It is about the learning, preparation, and personal growth that happens throughout the process, with teachers helping guide and support students every step of the way.
More Than a Competition
WorldSkills is a celebration of vocational education, practical skills, and the future workforce.
For Wodonga TAFE, being involved is about creating opportunities for students to challenge themselves, connect with industry, and experience the pride that comes from putting their skills into action. It is also an opportunity to showcase the passion and expertise of our teaching teams and the incredible talent developing across our campuses every day.
Most importantly, WorldSkills reflects what vocational education is all about - building confidence, capability, and real-world skills that prepare students for meaningful careers.
