Youth Spotlight: Ruby Myers

Wednesday, 20 May 2026

Born and raised in Albury–Wodonga, Ruby has always had a natural creative ability. While traditional schooling wasn’t the right fit, her talent for design, art, and hands-on creation consistently stood out. From a young age, she was drawing, painting, experimenting with textures, and constantly re-imagining her space; a clear reflection of her instinctive eye for design and problem-solving.

Now completing a Certificate IV in Interior Decoration (MSF40122), Ruby demonstrates both creative excellence and strong determination. She attends TAFE three days a week, developing advanced skills in digital design software, material selection, flat lays, design history, and collaborative brainstorming. Her tutors and peers recognise her ability to think quickly, generate ideas with confidence, and translate creative concepts into practical outcomes. Ruby has a particular passion for lighting, fascinated by how both natural and artificial light can completely transform the mood and personality of a space.

Outside of her studies, Ruby’s creativity continues to thrive. She draws, explores photography and textile design, creates nail art for friends and family, and experiments with bleach dye techniques on fabric, all demonstrating her strong artistic range. Influenced by her photographer mother and a deep love for nature and animals, Ruby brings emotion, individuality, and originality into her creative work. She also enjoys hands-on projects, including assisting with house renovations, where her practical skills and enthusiasm truly shine.

After leaving secondary school early with a clear vision for her future, Ruby completed a Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts (ICP20120) in 2025 as a pathway into the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration. Looking ahead, she plans to complete the Diploma in Interior Decoration in 2027 and one day travel to gain inspiration from global design styles.

Ruby’s journey reflects not only her impressive talent, but her unwavering passion and commitment to building a creative career. Driven, capable, and deeply inspired, she is shaping a future where her art, skill, and vision come together with purpose.
