Community, Connection and Cause: Wodonga TAFE at Convoy 4 Kids

Wednesday, 11 February 2026

Last month, Wodonga TAFE was proud to take part in the Twin City’s National Show n Shine and Convoy 4 Kids, joining the community at the Albury Showgrounds for a day celebrating vehicles, connection and a very worthy cause.

The day began with the much-anticipated Convoy 4 Kids, as trucks of all shapes and sizes took to the highway before rolling into the showgrounds. A highlight of the convoy was the enthusiastic bidding by drivers for the coveted lead truck position, with all proceeds supporting Country Hope — a charity providing vital assistance to families of children diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening illnesses.

At the showgrounds, the Wodonga TAFE team welcomed visitors to their site, shared information about training and programs, and took time to admire the impressive range of vehicles on display as part of the Show n Shine competition.

"Both Steve Kerr and I were honoured to take part in the event, which showcased the strong sense of community spirit that continues to define the transport industry. Drivers and transport companies from across the region generously donated their time, vehicles and support, creating a powerful display of the well‑known “lend a hand” Aussie spirit.

Representing Wodonga TAFE provided an opportunity to engage directly with the community and highlight the important role that education and skills development play within the wider transport sector. With training and licensing currently receiving significant attention, the event offered a valuable platform to demonstrate the connection between industry, training providers and the future workforce.

The day also reaffirmed a sentiment shared by many in the industry: you can take the girl or fella out of the truck, but the truck never truly leaves the diesel‑soaked soul. Participating in an event driven by generosity, unity and passion for the transport sector was both meaningful and memorable.” Jo Bathols, Teacher Transport

Wodonga TAFE is proud to support events that bring people together while making a real difference in the lives of others. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, shared their passion for cars and trucks, or simply enjoyed the atmosphere of the day.

A big congratulations to the event organisers for delivering such a fantastic community event, and heartfelt thanks to the Country Hope team for the incredible work they continue to do for families in need.
