Wodonga TAFE Celebrates Its Largest Ever WorldSkills Australia Team

Brisbane is buzzing with talent this week as the WorldSkills Australia 2025 National Championships & Skills Show kicks off, and Wodonga TAFE is proud to be front and centre, sending our biggest team to date to compete on the national stage.

Five of our incredible students - Zack Corless, Issac Pronk, Hollee Quinlan-Hope, Ryan Still and Elise Knobel are representing Wodonga TAFE and their respective industries in Graphic Design Technology, Hairdressing, Healthcare, Turning, and Welding - a powerful showcase of the skill, passion and dedication they’ve built through their training.

In the lead-up to this week’s competition, the students took part in an intensive three-day training camp from 16–18 May. This camp not only fine-tuned their technical skills, but also strengthened the bonds between students and mentors, a testament to the strong learning culture at Wodonga TAFE.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff and mentors - Jodie Kensington (Team manager)Chris Cheater, Chris Berg (Industrial Skills and Trades mentor), Carmen McInnes, Simone Riley (Educational Vocational Skills mentor), and Hellen Wiaczek (Community Services and Health mentor) - who volunteered their time and expertise to prepare our students for this moment. Your commitment reflects the deep connection between educators and students, and the value of hands-on, real-world training.

“As leaders in education, we see it as our responsibility and privilege to nurture the next generation of achievers. Watching our students rise to the national stage is a great look for our region, and wouldn't be possible without the dedication of our incredible staff.”
Victoria Conlan, Executive Director – Community, Engagement & Experience

The WorldSkills competition is more than just a contest - it's a celebration of excellence in vocational education and training. Over three days, students are tested on their precision, speed, and problem-solving through real-world challenges that push their skills to the limit.

We are proud beyond words and can’t wait to see our students shine. Head over to our socials to read the team bio's and join us in cheering them on from June 12–14!
