Wodonga TAFE Joins Volvo Trucks Australia at Brisbane Truck Show to celebrate and promote Iron Women Program

Tuesday, 27 May 2025

Wodonga TAFE was proudly represented at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show, with team members Victoria Conlon, Jason Atteridge, Jo Bathols, and Alex Stojanovic attending the national event as part of Truck Week 25 to support the first group of graduates of the Volvo Iron Women Program.

The Brisbane Truck Show, one of the largest and most anticipated transport industry events in the Southern Hemisphere, provided the perfect platform to shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done to support and encourage greater diversity in the road transport sector.

The Volvo Iron Women Program, a collaborative initiative between Volvo Trucks, Wodonga TAFE, and key transport industry partners, is designed to increase female participation in the industry by offering targeted driver training, support, and career development opportunities.

Victoria, Alex, Jo, and Jason were on hand at the Volvo Trucks stand with recent graduates to share their journey and celebrate the progress they have made. The program’s participants have completed comprehensive training in vital areas such as compliance, fatigue management, and load restraint, with all achieving their Certificate III in Driving Operations. They are now progressing to the next stage of their professional development, paving the way toward long-term careers in transport.

“We were thrilled to see such strong interest and support for the Iron Women Program,” said Jason. “Events like the Brisbane Truck Show are a great opportunity to highlight the achievements of the women in the program and to challenge outdated perceptions of the industry.”

Congratulations to all recent graduates of the program, and thank you to everyone who visited the stand to learn more. Wodonga TAFE is proud to continue working with Volvo Trucks Australia and industry leaders to ensure that more women have access to the training, opportunities, and support they need to thrive in the transport sector.

We’re also excited to share Volvo are seeking interest for the next intake of the Iron Women Program, launching second half of this year. If you or someone you know is interested in a rewarding career in road transport, now is the perfect time to get involved.
