Joe Bolton has been announced as the Australian Turf Association Apprentice of the Year. The announcement was made at the annual Australian TurfGrass Conference held in the Gold Coast. The Wodonga and District Turf Club employee also took out the Apprentice of the Year Award with the Sports Turf Association Victorian Branch earlier this year.

Wodonga TAFE Turf Management teacher, Mick Dove, who nominated Joe for the Victorian award, was at the conference when the announcement was made.

‘This is great recognition for Joe who has made such a positive impact on the industry as well as his colleagues and fellow students. We are so proud of his achievements, not only with his studies and his role at the turf club, but now to have state and national recognition for all of his hard work. Congratulations Joe.’

General Manager at the Wodonga and District Turf Club – Racing Wodonga, Tom O’Connor is also extremely proud. ‘This is a fantastic achievement for Joe and the race club. A great testament to the work at Wodonga TAFE, their Horticulture program and staff.’

Joe completed his apprenticeship last year, and with the support of the race club, has continued his studies with the Diploma of Sports Turf Management.
