Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set

Overview

In response to industry-identified needs Wodonga TAFE is pleased to offer an additional unit of study CHCSS00070 - Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set to add to current qualifications in Aged Care/Individual Support or Disability. This unit defines the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance, and complete medication documentation. Please note course requirements: Applicants must have completed the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) or an equivalent industry-recognised qualification.

• On-campus – The majority of teaching and assessment is conducted on-campus

Requirements

Applicants must have completed the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) or an equivalent industry-recognised qualification.

Skills developed

- Recognising healthy body systems
- Determining when client support is required for self-administration of medication
- Handling medication safely
- Supporting clients to self-administer medication
- Responding to an individual's reaction to medication
- Understanding and completing documentation appropriately.

The Skills First program is a Victorian Government program that provides access to government subsidies training to eligible individuals for specific courses. If an individual is eligible, the Government will contribute to the cost of the training.
