Successfully completing this course enables you, as a licensed cabler, to add Structured Cabling endorsement to your Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) Open Registration.
All customer cabling work in the telecommunications, fire, security and data industries must be performed by a registered cabler, with all cablers required to register with an Australian Communications and Media (ACMA)-accredited registrar. Cabling providers undertaking structured, optical-fibre or coaxial cabling work on customer premises must have the training competencies (endorsement) relevant to the specialised cabling work.
This unit applies to indoor and outdoor installation within customer premises. It may be applied to domestic, commercial or industrial installations. Communications applications include digital and analog, telephony, data, video, digital broadcasting, computer networks, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and multimedia.
Learning outcomes include:
- Install and terminate integrated voice and data cabling systems
- Conduct testing on the cabling systems
- Provide certification documentation for cabling systems
ICTCBL301 Install, terminate and certify structured cabling installation
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different student’s needs will be selected, including, installation of UTP cabling systems including terminations, performing certification testing including analysis of results, and an AS3080 assignment and examination.
Upon application, Structured Cabling Endorsement added to your ACMA Open Registration.

It is preferable, (but not essential), that you have completed the ACMA (Austel) Open Registration course prior to attending the endorsement courses. However, due to programming arrangements, consideration may be given to completing the endorsement courses prior to the ACMA (Austel) Open Registration course. Please contact the department at Wodonga TAFE prior to enrolling.
