MTA Open Day a Tyre-Screeching Success

Tuesday, 6 August 2019

Over the weekend Motorsports Training Australia (MTA) hosted their annual Open Day. The event’s objective is to open up their doors and allow the prospective students and their families to view the facilities and learn more about the opportunities in the motorsport industry.

Motorsports enthusiasts came from all over, even interstate and took the opportunity to speak with MTA’s current teacher and students to gain valuable insight into the course. They were able to discuss what sort of placement opportunities arise during studies as well as talk about the future job prospects that arise from completing a motorsports qualification with MTA.

Attendees of the day were treated to the ultimate ‘coolness’ of seeing and hearing MTA’s FPV Pursuit Ute on the dyno which, among other things, measures the great power of the engine (and shows off the extreme decibel levels it can reach!)

They were exposed to the way students are taught to interpret data logging and engine management systems. While their recent work with fibreglass moulding to create parts of the cars exteriors for examples bumpers, spoilers and skirtings were on display.

Despite the cooler temperature there was a general feeling of warmth and high spirited energy on the day, visitors were taken on a tour of the facilities and indulged in a hearty BBQ lunch.

“It was great to see so many interested people walk through the door all keen to learn about the Motorsports industry,” MTA Teacher Chris Rissmann explains.

“Everyone was genuinely intrigued and engaged in what we had to show them, it’s not an overly well understood industry for some people, so having this opportunity to come and see it first hand and speak to us and the students was a fantastic insight for them.”

“To all attendees, students, teachers and TAFE staff who made the day possible and also a roaring success, thank you so much.”

Motorsport courses will be opening for enrolment in the next couple of months for the next 2020 intake.
