The North East Food and Wine Festival is returning to Junction Square on Saturday 16 March 2019. With a new time of 3pm to 8pm, the annual event will showcase a variety of food, produce and goods, wines, beers, cordials and sodas. With the Festival now in its 7th year, Event Coordinator, Ms Katie Shalevski, said the new event time would make the most of the autumn evening, with the wide open spaces of Junction Square the perfect setting for an afternoon and evening festival.
“Presenting the Festival at the later time of the day allows us to make the most of the beautiful twilight setting that Junction Place and the new Richardson Park present”, said Katie.
The Festival this year again promises something for all tastes. “We have over 50 stall holders booked in, along with live music, and a special area for children’s activities”, said Katie. “The continued development of the central Wodonga space gives our community a wonderful place to come together with friends and family at events such as this, to enjoy good food and wine together, to sit back and enjoy the best our region has to offer.”
Put together by Wodonga TAFE, the North East Food and Wine Festival also involves students from the TAFE’s Event Management courses who work with Katie to help bring the event to life.
“The Festival gives our students gain hands-on experience working within a large community event”, said Katie. “They are able to gain insight into some of the many activities of what’s involved behind the scenes to run a successful event. Our students will also be able to see the different specialisations involved throughout the day, from traffic management, to bump-in, general trouble-shooting, and bump-out.”
