Donna Johan

Donna Johan

Centre Director

I have worked in and around Children’s Services for approximately twenty years, which has been the most rewarding and fulfilling career I could have hoped for. The thing I have always loved most about working in this sector has been the relationships you develop inside the centres, where each day is unique and always brings you a wonderful surprise. I have always enjoyed being an educator to children and continue to be inspired by what they teach me each and every day. I love to see the friendships in which they develop and the moment in which they show us they are ready to head to school.

Since my senior year in high school I wanted to educate and care for children, as I enjoyed spending time with them. Going to work every day is not like work to me.  I enjoy the time I spend at Kids On Campus and supporting the children I care for to learn, grow and reach milestones to their full potential.

I chose a career in Early Childhood to help children grow and become a positive influence in their lives. I love seeing the children every day and spending time with them, making them laugh and smile. Since I finished high school I was unsure of a career choice. After a casual trial at a childcare centre I decided it was definitely a career I wanted to pursue which then lead to experience with a range of age groups from babies to primary school aged. Through these times I have learnt how to build personal relationships with the children, getting to know their personal traits and quirks.

I have worked at Kids On Campus for 10 years, choosing a career in childcare because I enjoy interacting with children and their families. I love how every day is different and am supported by my colleagues. Children show us to visualise the world through young eyes which to me, is so inspiring. Watching babies and children develop their unique personalities and reach their milestones gives me a great sense of achievement, knowing I played a positive role in this. It is a privilege to care for babies in an environment that makes them feel safe and secure.

I chose a career in Early Childhood Education as I was in childcare until grade 6 and had the opportunity to see both positive and negative role models within the industry. I wanted to play a role in improving the childcare industry by becoming a positive role model myself. I love being able to provide the best quality care for children and watching their smiley faces as they are presented with exciting experiences that help their learning.

I enjoy working in the Early Childhood sector. I started off in the industry by assisting children with additional needs within kindergartens for seven and a half years. I found that very rewarding and loved every minute of it. I then studied and completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. I look forward to working with children every day, seeing them reach and succeed their goals, watching them interact with each other, and knowing that they are having fun and enjoying their time as much as I am with them.

I was fortunate as a working mum to have wonderful people care for my children in a long day care setting. So, when I decided to choose a second career, becoming an Early Years Educator seemed the right fit. This has provided me the opportunity to 'give back" and, as part of a dedicated team, provide care, education and support for young families in our community.

Working towards Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary

I want to become an educator because I have a true passion for looking after children and seeing them achieve new milestones in their learning. Working with children allows me to feel a sense of pride in the yard, when children learn new skills or accomplish a goal they set for themselves. I care about each child's development and it always brings a smile to my face when I get a laugh, giggle or smile on their face. I believe this profession is a rewarding job and each day is something new which broadens my experiences and my own knowledge.

My passion for early childhood education comes from having a partner who is an educator and hearing the amazing stories she comes home with. I look forward to getting to know the children and their families. I chose a career in Early Childhood Education due to my passion for being in the company of children, providing care, and taking on the responsibility of their well-being. I love being an educator because it is a two-way street. While I'm teaching the kids, they're also teaching me valuable lessons every day. It's a constant cycle of learning and growing for both of us.

I love to watch children’s personalities grow and learn all their interests and traits that make each one of them unique. Jaimee Lamotte

Jaimee Lamotte

Family Day Care Coordinator

I have worked in the Early Childhood sector for almost 10 years now and have been a part of every aspect of a centre. From starting out as an assistant to room leader, assistant centre manager, and centre manager. I have also had experience in medical management, workplace health and safety officer, and educational leader. I am currently studying Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I believe that every child has the right to quality education in their early years as the first five years are critical for children's learning and development. I believe in creating strong secure relationships with both children and their families to ensure children feel safe and secure within their environment and to give them the best possible chance to grow and develop.

I chose to take on the traineeship so that I could have a strong start in the early childhood education sector. This opportunity has given me the chance to learn alongside the children, which I feel very fortunate to experience. I love working with the kids every day and watching their personalities shine through as they grow more confident in their environment while amongst their peers. For many years I went to an on campus childcare centre, so this opportunity feels like it has come full circle and now I get to have a positive contribution to the lives of toddlers and young children.
