Helping to spread the message for R U OK?Day

Wednesday, 9 September 2020

Our Certificate I in Transition Education students felt that the R U OK?Day message was really important this year, more so than any other, and volunteered to help spread the message on campus.

Working together with Wodonga TAFE's Events & Functions Coordinator, Katie, and our Welfare Officer, Tahlie, the students have helped promote the day, with the aim to raise awareness about R U OK?Day and to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. The students have been involved in planning, making, and purchasing materials for the day.

The Transition Education students spent time yesterday hanging posters, balloons, and bunting, with a bit of help from Steve from the Facilities team. They also distributed merchandise to our Cafeteria team who are also helping spread the message on campus with cupcakes, coffees, and other goodies.

The students have created their own film promotion of people from around Wodonga TAFE who had agreed to perform to help people to know what to say if someone says they are not ok!  This film is running in the Cafeteria this week.

The littlies at Kids on Campus Early Learning Centre have also set up an RUOK? Day display in the cafeteria to help encourage people to ask about the well-being of those around them.

What an amazing team effort from our wonderful students and staff!
