The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a senior secondary program accredited with the Victorian Qualifications Authority and is delivered as a complementary qualification to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). This program is designed to provide flexible pathways for young people as they transition from school to further education and work. At Senior VCAL level, learning is autonomous in regard to planning and work activities but conducted under supervision. There is a focus on knowledge and employability skills development as this leads to a high level of interpersonal skills, independent action and achievement of tasks that require decision making and leadership. This level also includes mandatory industry days, where students will spend time in one of two selected vocational streams - Creative Industries or Hospitality. This opportunity provides great insight into the chosen industry and enables a pathway to further studies in this area.
