'I started working at Wodonga TAFE in 1987, and never thought for one minute I would still be here in 2010.  Longevity in one workplace would normally get repetitive - but teaching brings new students, new training packages, new technologies and new challenges.

I’ve had the privilege of working with truly wonderful people, staff here at Wodonga TAFE and those in the diverse horticultural industry.  I can appreciate the way teaching has evolved over the years and Wodonga TAFE’s flexibility when dealing with trainees and apprentices now has me spending as much time in industry as I do in the classroom.'

'I first worked at Wodonga TAFE as part of my high school work experience program.  Now, over 20 years later, I’m still here and loving it!  I’ve had the opportunity to work in many different roles and also spent 6 years working on a specialised project in Melbourne.  Wodonga TAFE has provided me with opportunities to develop myself both professionally and personally.

After taking maternity leave to have 2 children I was thrilled with the flexibility provided to me when I returned to work.  I was able to combine working from home as well as in the office.  And now that I’m working full time I love that Wodonga TAFE has a fantastic child care centre onsite!'

Being a mature-aged person, I had thought my options to change professions were limited, but Wodonga TAFE gave me this opportunity.

‘After 26 years as a nurse and psychiatric clinician, Wodonga TAFE recognised my skills and sponsored my training as a teacher in Learner Services.

‘Wodonga TAFE has a genuine commitment to excellence in education - offering education to all through clear pathways.’

‘I attended Wodonga TAFE as a student in the VCAL program, studying Year 11 and horticulture. While studying, I was fortunate enough to get a work experience placement in the TAFE nursery, which allowed me to put into practice my new-found knowledge.

When a Parks and Gardens apprenticeship later came up at the TAFE I was in the perfect position to go for it and get it! I have never looked back and was recently voted as one of the top four Victorian Apprentices of the Year.’
