Eddie 'Kookaburra' Kneebone Gallery

The Eddie 'Kookaburra' Kneebone Gallery was officially opened in 2009.

The Gallery, funded by the Victorian Government, extends the business capability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art students through formal training so they can proactively market their artwork and earn a sustainable living from their skills.

In naming the gallery, art students chose to celebrate Eddie 'Kookaburra' Kneebone, as he was instrumental in the development of Wodonga TAFE's Koori art program. Eddie put great energy into encouraging indigenous and non-indigenous people of all ages to develop their artistic talents. He was a prolific artist in his own right and Wodonga TAFE is proud to have had Eddie as its artist-in-residence from 1997 until his passing in 2005.

Eddie was a passionate force behind Wodonga TAFE's Koori art program, which has become an integral part of the fabric of Albury Wodonga's indigenous community.

Art students have participated in the art program as a means to express and understand their unique culture, and to extend themselves personally. Many graduating artists have since sold their art across Australia and internationally. Students' works are available for sale to the community.

The Eddie 'Kookaburra' Kneebone Gallery is open to the general public on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm.
