About this course
(Red Card). This traffic control course provides you, as a work supervisor or team leader, with the knowledge and skills you need to select and make minor modifications, if necessary, to existing traffic control plans, to suit the work location. The course complies with the NSW code of practice for induction training in construction and constitutes work activity induction training as defined in that code of practice.
What you learn
- Explain the requirements of a traffic management plan (TMP).
- Describe the set-out and close-down of a traffic control plan (TCP).
- Conduct a risk review for the TCP.
- Make minor, site-specific modifications to approved TCPs.
- Inspect and approve TCPs.
Entry requirements
You must:
- have adequate literacy and analytical skills
- be able to read and interpret the RTA's manual, Traffic control at worksites, particularly the traffic control plans it contains
- have previously held a 'traffic controller (blue card)' or an 'apply traffic control plans (yellow card)' for a period of 12 months, or have equivalent industry experience.
What to bring
- Please bring original documentation for proof of identity. Photo ID is mandatory.
- Wear suitable clothing and footwear. Safety shoes or boots are preferred.

Outcomes
If you successfully complete this course, you receive a competency card issued by the RTA and valid for 3 years.
