About this course
This probationary motorbike training course is for motorcycle riders who have held a current motorcycle learner’s permit for a minimum of 3 consecutive months and who want to be tested for the motorcycle probationary licence.
You are allocated a Honda CB250 motorcycle for the duration of the course.
What you learn
- Motorcycle safety inspection
- Braking
- Counter steering.
Entry requirements
- You must hold a current Victorian motorcycle learner’s permit and have held it for at least 3 consecutive months.
- You must bring your Victorian motorcycle learner’s permit with you on the day of training.
- Your blood alcohol content must be 0.0%.
- You must obtain medical clearance from VicRoads before you start the course if you have a medical condition other than corrective eye lenses or asthma that is treated with a puffer.
What to bring
- Please bring original documentation for proof of identity. Photo ID is mandatory.
- Full skin cover is NISTC policy.
- You must wear sturdy footwear (no thongs).
- You must wear strong clothing (for example, made from denim or leather) to cover your arms and legs (no shorts, singlets, or t-shirts).
- Bring wet weather clothing if necessary.

Assessment
- Your eyesight will be assessed.
- You will watch an instructional DVD.
- You will undergo manoeuvres on the test course.
- You will undergo a practical skills test.

Outcomes
If you successfully complete this course, you receive a statement of attainment.
Note This is a licence course approved by VicRoads. If successful, you receive your motorcycle probationary licence on the day of the course.
