About this course

Includes forest harvester and forwarder. This harvesting operations course enhances your knowledge and experience as an operator of forestry equipment in line with relevant state, national, and industry requirements.

What you learn

You undertake training in OHS policies and procedures, and environmental care procedures.

  • Occupational health and safety
  • Standards and regulations
  • Personal safety/machine safety
  • Pre-operational checks
  • Shut-down procedures
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Operating techniques.

Entry requirements

You:

  • must have sufficient knowledge of the English language to perform your work safely
  • must be medically fit
  • may need your own transport to the worksite.

What to bring

  • Please bring original documentation for proof of identity. Photo ID is mandatory.
  • Wear suitable clothing and footwear. Safety shoes or boots are preferred.

Your hard hat and vest are supplied.

Course dates and duration

Course duration 2-3 weeks depending on level of competence (weather conditions and fire restrictions may also impact on the duration).

Venue

Training is conducted in a pine plantation.

Assessment

Assessment comprises written and practical components.

Outcomes

If you successfully complete this course, you receive a statement of attainment.
