Where this course may lead

The Horticulture (Turf) courses provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in a variety of roles, from a turf management assistant to manager in turf businesses and local government.

These trade-recognised qualifications can provide you with the foundation for further studies and specialisation in other horticulture streams.

What you learn

You learn the technical and practical horticultural skills and knowledge you need in the turf industry.

Skills developed cover plant recognition, plant growth habits, machinery operation, turf renovation, turf establishment, turf recognition, soils, pests and diseases, management, and occupational health and safety.

Entry requirements

  • You need basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessments will be varied, including observation, practical demonstration and/or assignment work and written assessments.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive an AQF qualification.
