Where this course may lead

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need for management positions in parks and gardens, businesses and local government. This course can also provide you with credits at advanced diploma level.

What you learn

You learn the management and practical skills that you need to find work in the parks and gardens industry.

Management units include negotiation skills, preparing estimates, quotes and tenders, marketing, and implementing sustainable horticultural practices. Practical skills include plant identification, establishing planted areas, pruning, weed control and machinery operation.

You need basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Assessment

The level of competency you develop from your training will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Assessment will be conducted through observation, practical demonstration and/or coursework.

Your teachers will provide you with more information on specific requirements at the start of each unit and they will assist with any support you may need.

Outcomes and accreditations

On successful completion of this course you will receive an AQF qualification and/or Statement of Attainment listing all units completed.
